Tim Dale Harrell  - December 17, 1968 – September 23, 1986

Services for Tim Dale Harrell, 17, Norman, who died Tuesday, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Primrose Chapel with the Rev. Willie Bookout officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Born December 17, 1968, in Norman, Tim was a senior at Norman High School, where he was in the gifted classes and a member of the National Honor Society.  He was employed by the Kettle Restaurant and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Among his survivors are his parents, Richard and Connie Harrell of the home; his sister, Madeline of Norman; and his grandparents, Ottis and Marie West of San Antonio, Texas, Bill and Effie Davis of Norman and Dale and Nellie Lomeland of Napa, Calif.

Bearers will be Mike Carter, Johnny Lupin III, Craig Eckstein, Kelly Roley, Jeff Carpenter, Adam Petitt, Jimmy Liew and Shane Kahrs.

Todd Allen Moore - November 14, 1967 – December 4, 1988

Services for Todd Allen Moore, 21, Norman, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Norman Tabernacle, 3650 E. Robinson, with the Rev. Rick Bradford officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born in Wichita, Kan., on Nov.14, 1967.  He moved to Norman in 1978 from Yukon.

He was a 1987 graduate of Norman High School where he played football.  He also had been a member of the wrestling, track and football teams of Noble and was treasurer of the Spanish class.

He was a member of Norman Tabernacle.

He was employed as a clerk/manager trainee.

Survivors include his parents, Gordon and Sharon Moore of the home; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Heather Moore of Bedford, Texas, and Stephen and Kyong of Okinawa, Japan; his grandparents, Marvin and Arliene Wade of Marietta, Wilford and Mary Moore of Edmond and Harvey and Betty Scott of Modesto, Calif.; his great-grandmother, Lue Fletcher of Marietta; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Bearers will be David Garber, Dennis Matlock, Will Williams, Gary Knight, Sam Alyea and Raymond Martinez.

Michelle Erica Suttles -  October 30, 1969 - February 5, 1990

Services for Michelle Erica Suttles, 20, Norman, are scheduled for 1:30 pm Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Danny Covett officiating. Dr. Lavonn Brown will assist. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services.

Ms. Suttles died Monday, Feb. 5, in Norman.

She was born in Alva on Oct. 30, 1969, to Ronald and Cheryl Suttles. She graduated from Norman High School in 1987, where she was president of the French Club. She was listed on the honor roll and in Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, the Gifted and Talented Program, Media Center Aide, and the Enriched English and History Program.

She attended the University of Oklahoma from 1987 - 1989, majoring in letters. She was a recipient of scholarships from the Dad’s Association and the Oklahoma Pediatric Cancer Association. Ms. Suttles was a Delta Sigma Phi Sweetheart and a worker for the Volunteer Counselor Teen Crisis Line. Her efforts helped to establish the Teen Support Group at the Oklahoma Pediatric Cancer Association.

Survivors include her parents, Ronald and Cheryl Suttles of the home; one brother, Kirk of the home; her grandparents, Perry and Gena Tarrant of Norman, Winona Suttles of Ponca City, and Ray Suttles of Enid; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Bearers will be Jack Hillard, Robby Fink, Jim Holzberlein, Dave Mobley, Kim Erickson, Mike Fletcher and Fred Wilcox. Honorary bearers are Ned Tarrant, Jim Slack, Todd Roper, Mitch Schuster, Steve and Mark Suttles and the Rev. Joe Sroufe.

Friends may call at Primrose Funeral Services until 11 a.m. on Friday and from 12 to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church.

The family has designated the Oklahoma Pediatric Cancer Association Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 96292, Oklahoma City, OK 73143, as appropriate for memorial contributions

William J. Mercer  - passed June 8, 1994

William J. Mercer of Norman died Wednesday, June 8.  He was 25.

Memorial services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Life Bible Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

The son of William and Karen Mercer, he was born Nov. 30, 1968, at Newport, R.I.  A Norman High School graduate, he was a student at Oklahoma City Community College.  Mr. Mercer was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dr. Norman Newell, he is survived by his parents, William and Karen of Norman; a daughter, Ashley of Norman; a sister, Amy Marie of Norman; a brother Matthew Newell Mercer of Norman; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Gertie Bright of Angel Fire, N.M.; and his paternal grandparents, Willie and Harold Mercer of Oklahoma City.

The family has suggested the Oklahoma Wildlife Federation, 3900 N. Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, 73118, as appropriate for memorial contributions.

John Matthew "Matt" Skvarla - April 9, 1969 – December 12, 1994

John Matthew “Matt” Skvarla of Norman died Monday, Dec. 12.  He was 25.

A wake is planned for 7 tonight at the Primrose Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ernest A Flusche officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.

The son of John J. and Donna J. Skvarla, he was born April 9, 1969, at Norman.  A 1987 graduate of Norman High School, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond from 1991-92.  From 1992 to the present he attended Oklahoma City Community College where he majored in journalism.

Mr. Skvarla was student editor of “Pioneer,” the Oklahoma City Community College student newspaper, from 1993 to 1994.  In spring of this year he won the President’s Award for Excellence in Journalism from the college as well as numerous state awards in journalism.

Preceded in death by a sister, Tracy Elizabeth, he is survived by his parents, John J. and Donna J. Skvarla of Norman; two sisters, Emily Sarah of the home, and Mary Jeanne of North Amherst, Mass.; his grandparents, James D. and Dorothy Connolly of Austin, Texas; several aunts, uncles and cousins from Austin, Texas, and central New Jersey; and numerous faculty and friends at Oklahoma City Community College.

James D. Connolly Jr., James Douglas Connolly III, Patrick Lambert, Robert Clouston, Keith Pirtle, Mike Lierman, and Jay Lynn will serve as bearers.  Honorary bearers will be James D. Connolly Sr., Clay Randolph, and Dr. George L. Cross.

The family has suggested the Oklahoma City Community College Development Fund for the Journalism Scholarship as appropriate for memorial contributions.

Gary Wayne Meyer - June 20, 1969 - Nov  5, 2001

Gary Wayne Meyer, 32, of Norman died Saturday in Norman. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Garner, the Rev. Mike Lewis and the Rev. Scott Berglan officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.

Mr. Meyer was born June 20, 1969, to Paul Phillips and Shirley Louise Harmon Meyer in Norman. He graduated from Norman High School in 1987, and he married Cherie Lynn Roberts July 22, 1988. Mr. Meyer was the owner and operator of Alliance Vending Co. He was a member of the Norman Moose Lodge and the First Free Will Baptist Church.

Mr. Meyer is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Ione Meyer. He is survived by his wife; sons Jacob and Jordan; parents Paul and Shirley Meyer of Norman; grandparents Frank and Leona Harmon of Norman; father-in-law and mother-in-law Neil and Betty Roberts of Norman; brother Chris Meyer and wife Rachel of Moore; niece Courtney Meyer, and nephew Dillon Meyer.

Bearers will be Chris Meyer, Mike Harmon, Jeff Ryker, Neil Boyd, Brian Waddle and Gregg Johnson.

Laura Margaret Welch
Laura Margaret Welch, 34, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at a local hospital due to complications of diabetes.

Funeral: 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, Tenn., with the Rev. Brent Seals and Dr. Jack B. Terry Jr. officiating. Denise Jones will be soloist. Private burial: Thursday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Keith Raulston, Eric Raulston, Jonathan Raulston, John Parsons, Josh Welch and Nicholas Welch. Honorary pallbearers: Michael Heaton, Joseph Heaton, J.T. Welch and Pete Welch.

Laura Margaret Welch was the daughter of Bob and Judy Hunnicutt Welch. Formerly a resident of Elizabethton, Tenn., Laura lived in Norman, Okla., for 11 years and had made her home in Fort Worth since 1999. She was an accomplished artist and an avid Star Wars collector. Laura accepted with grace
the ravages of diabetes. Her zeal for life never diminished throughout those many years of pain and discomfort. She welcomed all with a broad smile. Her quick wit and generous attitude for all persons made her friends of numerous individuals. Despite her condition of loss of sight and kidney failure, her resolve led her to complete her degree at East Tennessee State University. She lived the hope of the passage of scripture that said, "Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31.

Laura was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jim and Mabel Hunnicutt; her paternal grandfather, Robert F. Welch; one aunt, Margaret Ann Hunnicutt; and one uncle, Bill Welch.

David A. Vesely - August 1969 - October 4, 2003 died after battling cancer 

David A. Vesely, 34, of Wilmington, Mass., died on Saturday, Oct. 4. Services were in Wakefield, Mass. A memorial tribute will be at a later date.

Mr. Vesely was born in 1969 in Oklahoma City, to Carol (Woods) and John Vesely. He graduated from Norman High School. He received a business degree from the University of Oklahoma. He worked for Fidelity Investments in Dallas and later worked for the Boston Stock Exchange. He married Lori Muise Oct. 7, 2000, in Wakefield. He enjoyed seeing the beautiful New England scenery with her.

Mr. Vesely was preceded in death by his grandparents and older brother, John Jr.

Mr. Vesely is survived by his wife, Lori of the home; mother, Carol Vesely of Oklahoma City; father John Vesely and wife, Marilyn, of Norman; brother, Steven and wife, Cheryl, and their sons, Steve Jr. and Caleb of Norman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.



Timothy Wayne Avera   Timothy Wayne Avera  - February 18, 1969 - December 23, 2003

Timothy Wayne Avera, age 34, died Tuesday, December 23, 2003 in Tulsa as results of an auto/ pedestrian accident. He was born February 18, 1969 in Oklahoma City to John R. and Reta Helene Stafford Avera. He grew up in the Oklahoma City/ Norman area and was a graduate of Norman High School. He attended Rose State and OCCC. He served eight years with the US Marine Corps and most recently served in the Middle East with the US Army Reserves, 45th Division, returning in October of this year. Since returning from the military he had returned to work for Hobby Lobby as a truck driver. He was a member of Canadian Valley Baptist Church and was still in the US Army Reserves in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Stella of the home, one son Timothy John Avera of the home, two step sons Nicholas and Robert Cancemi, his mother Reta Helene Blue and husband Gene of Norman, and his father John R. Avera and wife Benita of Edmond. Also by three brothers Justin Avera of Edmond, Marcus Parks and wife Stephanie of Blanchard, Brandon Parks and wife Kelly of Williamsport, PA, one sister Meredith Avera of Edmond and his grandparents Rex and Edith Avera of Edmond and Clint Stafford of Madill, OK. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang with interment with full military rites to be conducted at 1 p.m. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.

Kimberly Ann Beery - November 14, 1969 - May 1, 2004

Kimberly Ann Beery, 34, of Dallas died Saturday, May 1, while on a vacation trip. Services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Primrose Chapel. Burial will be at the Norman IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. The casket will be closed at the service. She was born Nov. 14, 1969, in Norman, to Janie and Bill Beery. She graduated from Norman High School in 1987 and the University of Oklahoma in 1991 with a degree in broadcast journalism. She was an avid sports fan, traveling from New York to Arizona, Washington to Florida, Alaska to Australia, and was a lifelong Sooner fan. She volunteered with various charities and charity events, including the ALS Association, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Ronald McDonald House and the Robert Brill Charity Golf Challenge. She worked with Southwest Airlines in Oklahoma City for several years before moving to Dallas to work at Southwest Airlines headquarters. She was preceded in death by her father and grandfathers, Wallace Beery, Gene Balch and Bob Dafforn. She is survived by her mother; her brother, Bryan Beery; niece, Taylor Beery; nephews, Austin Beery and Cayden Beery; grandmothers, B.J. Dafforn and Ila Mae Beery; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mark Spencer Udell
- November 29, 1968 - May 3, 2005 died in auto accident

Mark Spencer Udell, born Nov. 29, 1968, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 3rd.  He is survived by his father and mother, Don and Myrna Udell of OKC, and his sister & brother-in-law, Mindy and Blake Hooper of Lewisville, TX.  Mark was loved by his many relatives and friends.  We were in awe of him and his love for the special needs children.  Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2005 at the Barnes & Johnson FH Chapel, 1820 S. Douglas Blvd., MWC.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to:  Special Care, Inc., 12201 N. Western Ave., OKC, OK 73114.

Funeral service for Eric Scott Huffine Word, 37, of Oklahoma City was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 in the First Baptist Church of Tuttle.

Eric Scott Huffine Word was born August 29, 1968 in Stockton, Calif. He died Saturday August 5, 2006 in Oklahoma City. He was the son of Richard and Mary Carolyn Huffine Word. He had lived in Woodward, Tuttle, Norman and Oklahoma City for many years.

Eric worked for the Oklahoma State Health Department as Supervisor in Shipping and Receiving. He adored his grandparents and loved his cat “Meek.”

His grandparents Lucille Huffine, Idys Frank Turner, Anna Turner and Marshall Word preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Carolyn Huffine Word Roller of Harlingen, Texas; his father, Richard Word of Oklahoma City; one brother, Joshua Word and his wife Veronica of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Kirsten Word of Harlingen, Texas; one niece, Emily Word of San Diego, Calif.; grandparents, H.V. Huffine and wife Joan of LaFeria, Texas and Elta Word of Oklahoma City; an aunt, Becky Ernest and husband Melvin of Norman; three uncles, Jimmy Finley Huffine of Grapevine, Texas, Bill Turner and wife Lou of Tuttle, and Bill Word and wife Janie of Enid; three great aunts, Eletha Jessup of Tuttle, Norma Ruth White of Noble, Okla. and Lucille Anna Huffine of Lawton, Okla.; great uncle, Jim Huffine of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and numerous cousins and friends.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Tuttle, Okla. under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle.
